- January 6th, 1613- Galileo sighted Neptune but recorded it as a faint star
- 1655- Titan, Saturn's largest moon, is discovered by Christian Huygens
- 1671- Iaepetus, one of Saturn's moons, is discovered by G.D. Cassini
- 1672- Rhea, another one of Saturn's moons, is discovered by G.D. Cassini
- 1684- Tethys is discovered orbting Saturn by G.D. Cassini
